Banked tarmac driveway with retaining wall - Southampton, Hampshire

The Brief: To construct a tarmac drive on a very steep gradient.

The initial brief was to re-tarmac the drive but after a site visit and discussion it was agreed that the entire frontage of the property would benefit from some landscaping, to include a rendered blockwork wall retaining a small area of lawn, and remodelling of the driveway to allow a parking and turning area. Drainage was incorporated into the construction as the steep gradient meant there would be considerable run-off from rainwater.
