Design and construction of garden and lawn for new barn conversion - Tufton, Hampshire

The Brief: From a basic sketch of an idea to design and construct a low maintenance garden with large lawn, wide border features and extended patio area.

The garden was a blank canvas being rough grass with small patio to the rear of the house. The client wanted an extension to the patio, a large area of lawn and wide planting borders with low maintenance shrubs. A layout of gently sweeping curves was decided, to allow naturalisation over time. The lawn was enclosed by a gravel path accessing radius patios incorporated into the borders to provide additional seating areas and points of interest. The borders were deeply mulched to minimise maintenance whilst the shrubs established. The lawn was established from seed.
